A study presented at the annual symposium San Antonio Breast Cancer in San Fransisko, Texas, found that Faslodex (fulvestrant) in higher doses (500 milligrams) work better than the current dose received (250 milligrams) on breast tumor hormone positive receptor which has spread to other body parts.
Many cells of breast cancer sensitive to circulating estrogen because they carry receptors associated with these hormones, help malignant cells to spread and grow. And Falsodex, bright researchers, after this critical relationship.
“This drug is different from other hormonal agents. These drugs can basically destroy the estrogen receptor,” said study leader Dr. Angelo Leo of the oncology department Hospital of Prato in Italy, as quoted by AP sites. “Evidence from previous clinical trials show that if you increase the dose of the drug then you can decrease encourages more of the estrogen receptor.”
“500 milligram dose was clearly more effective than 250 in the improved development of the disease,” added Leo.
Presidential Symposium Dr. C. Kent Osborne hoped that the change in dose can also help patients early-stage breast cancer.
