Flat Shoes Banish Knee Pain
If you suffer from knee pain due to arthritis, it is better to wear flat shoes, and supple. Shoes of this type, according to the findings of researchers, can reduce stress on joints and make you more comfortable.
In this comparative study, researchers evaluated the pressure or burden on the knee when the participants wore a clog, athletic shoes with stable features, flat shoes, flip-flops, and walk barefoot. The result flat and flexible shoes, according to study leader Najia Shakoor had, MD, of Rush Medical College, showed the best results.
“From previous studies, we know that the road barefoot is good to load the knee,” said Shaqoor. “We want to find out whether different shoes have different effects on the knee, so we comparing the four types of shoes with the street barefoot. ”
Surprisingly, light Shaqoor, during these types of shoes that we recommend in patients with knee arthritis (shoes with a stable and clog features) actually triggered the biggest burden.
Best Shoes
Shaqoor team evaluating 31 men and women with knee arthritis. Style or ability of the participants were measured while wearing street:
* Clog
* Shoes athletics which otherwise minimize the risk of leg rolled up.
* Shoes flat (flat walking shoes)
* Slipper-flops
Shaqoor measure the moment of knee pressure, measuring the force on your knees when you walk.
“Flat shoes, street barefoot, flip-flops and generate the same load on the knee,” explained Shaqoor. “But the clog and shoe features can stable pressure or 15 percent higher expenses.”
This study still including the initial study so it is still too early to recommend changes. But several studies, he added, has indicated that the footwear is flat and more flexible can help reduce the load on the knee than the less flexible the footwear and has a higher heel. Shoes with stable features tend to have higher heels than other athletic shoes.
“We think flat and flexibility is the source of these positive benefits.”
However this study did not invite you to use flip-flops. Flat shoes, he explained, might be safer than the flip-flops. Specifically in terms of stability and risk of falls.
